The Observer, date unknown - "Further from the late C.A. McBride's historical writings--George Hatfield married Emily Holmes. His first business was that of shoemaker and he was an expert workman. He became postmaster and conducted a country store where almost anything from a fish to a barrel of flour or the material for a new dress, could be bought. He was friendly to children, a genial and generous neighbour and a citizen with enlightened convictions. His only daughter Dora became the wife of George Raymond. His sons were Stanley, Russell, Burrel, William, Archie and Heber H. All are now deceased excepting the youngest son Heber who has given a good account of himself both as business man and as the peoples' representative at Ottawa. (Taken from The Observer of August 6th 1950.)"
