He was born in Crabtree and lived in Aurora for 30 years, retiring from Crown Zellerbach in 1987. He was a master mechanic and shop foreman, designed logging and lumber mill equipment and traveled internationally for Ellison Co. He was active in Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent de Paul, the Elks in Albany and Lions in Wilsonville. His first wife, Henrietta, died in 1965.
Survivors include his wife, Chloris, whom he married in 1967; son, Dennis; daughter, Rosemary Leist; stepdaughter, Suzanne Hagen; sisters, Vivian Poppe and LaVon Bunnell; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eugene. Arrangements are by Canby Funeral Home.
