Rev. George Dashiell was born in Somerset County, Maryland on 14 March 1770. He was brought up in the Protestant Episcopal Church. He was ordained by Bishop White and became rector of Somerset Parish in 1791. He removed to Delaware in 1793, but returned to Kent County, Maryland in 1797. In 1804, he became the rector of St. Peter's Protestant Episcopal Church in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1816, he renounced the Protestant Episcopal Church and was deposed. He then organized the Evangelical Episcopal Church. He died on 4 March 1852 in New York City at the age of 82. His grave and monument are reported to be in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. A lengthy obituary appeared in the Christian Observer (Philadelphia) on 17 April 1852.
