SANDUSKY - The Rev. Ralph E. Bird, 92, died at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Ohio Veterans Home of natural causes.
He was born Jan. 21, 1917, in New Brighton, Pa., a son of Joseph and Anna M. Smith Bird.
He retired from Ideal Foundry and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
He had been a minister at Edinburg Church of God and was a member of First Church of God.
Ralph is survived by his stepdaughter, Kathy L. Lowery of Stone Mountain, Ga.; stepson, William J. Halasyn of Tampa, Fla., four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Amelia Fabyanic; his second wife, Donna Roper Halasyn; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at First Church of God, Newton Falls, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Newton Falls Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by James Funeral Home.
