She was born August 2, 1927, in Oswego, Kansas, to Earl and Nancy (Tindle) Hardin. As a young girl, she attended schools in Oswego, Vinita, Oklahoma, and Denver, Colorado. As a teenager, she returned to Oswego where she attended high school.
She and Howard C. "Red" Lindsey were married August 14, 1945, in Oswego. They lived in Oswego, Parsons, Vinita, Stratton, Burlington and Denver before returning to Parsons in 1961. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1998. In 2000, Nita moved to Burlington to be near her daughter and family. After moving to Burlington, she managed the kitchen at Meals on Wheels until retiring.
She was a member of the Hazeldell Southern Baptist Church in Cherryvale, Kansas, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She enjoyed working puzzles, and loved kittens, especially her cat, Boots. Nita especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include: One Son – Michael Lindsey and his wife, Melody White Settlement, TX One Daughter – Linda Munoz and her husband, Prudencio Burlington, KS Six Granddaughters – Margee, Vicki, Kristina, Laura, Angela and Donna Fifteen Great Grandchildren One Great Great Granddaughter
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and an infant daughter.
