W. Clare Hyer, 90, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013 at his home in Nampa, Idaho after an extended illness.

He was born in Hyde Park, Utah, November 6, 1922 to John Christian and Maude Peterson Hyer.

Clare served in the Navy during World War II and at the War's end, served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western States Mission.

He married Yvonne Fabricius in the Logan LDS Temple on June 10, 1949. Together they welcomed 8 children into their home and have since been blessed with 36 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

Clare was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in many different capacities.

Clare retired from The Amalgamated Sugar Company after 34 years of dedicated service.

Clare is survived by his wife, Yvonne; their children, Cathy (Edgardo) Rodriguez, Joelle (Gaylin) Sharp, Dan (Pam) Hyer, Becky (Courtney) Tuft, Mark (Debbie) Hyer, Susan (Denis) Hendricks and Matt (Trudi) Hyer; a brother, Garold Hyer; and a sister, Ellien Jensen,

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Karma Thompson, a daughter, Jane Hyer, two foster sons, Peter and Lawrence Lone Elk, and a grandson, Justin Hyer.

Services will be held Saturday, February 9 at 10:00 AM at the LDS Chapel at 18486 N. Middleton Road in Nampa. Family and friends may gather at the Zeyer's Funeral Chapel Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. or from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at the Church prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
