Leslie Owen Reynolds, 95 of Independence, Mo passed away, Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Rosewood Health Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 8, 2013 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church 611 N Liberty St., Independence, MO 64050. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m., until service time Friday at the church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations may be made in his name to the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Leslie was born August 11, 1917 in Kansas City, MO to William A. and Evalyn (Hutchinson) Reynolds and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from William Chrisman High School. He worked as a home builder and master carpenter for a number of years and built and sold many homes in the Independence area. He also worked for a number of years in maintenance at the Independence School District until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and was an accomplished, self taught bass player and member of the Play Boys Band who played many senior citizen events. He also enjoyed golf and began playing in his 80's. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Carpenter's Union. He was known as a staunch Union man and Democrat. He is survived by; his daughter, Rixie Adams of Independence, MO; a son in law, Jerry Coe of Kansas City, MO; 5 grandchildren, Leslie Still, Lori Hanaway, Jeff Adams, Mindy VanPool and Sherry Coe; 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Avis Reynolds in 2007, daughter, Ramona Alice Coe in 1996, brothers, Lloyd Reynolds and Ellis Reynolds and son-in-law, Charles "Ed" Adams in 2012.
