NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. — Ruth Billings Shrader, age 90, of North Tazewell, Va., died Friday, February 1, 2013 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell, Va.
Born January 30, 1923 at Whittaker Ridge in Bandy, Va., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Columbus Billings and Ida Mae Wagner Billings. She was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Shrader; two sisters, Ora Altizer and Hattie Harman; four brothers, Carl Billings, Charlie Billings, John Billings, and Jack Billings. Mrs. Shrader was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include one daughter, Rita Palmer and husband, Gordon of Bland, Va.; two sons, Tom Shrader and wife, Joyce of Shawver's Mill in Tazewell, Va. and Ronnie Shrader of Roanoke, Va.; seven grandchildren, Kelly Palmer Conrad and husband, Bob, Jennifer Palmer Heatherington and husband, Tim, Leslie Shrader Adkins and husband, Travis, Tommy Shrader, Matthew Shrader and wife, Sarah, Terri Gordon, and Tony Williams; seven great-grandchildren, Alex Adkins, Declan Heatherington, Carys Heatherington, Ellie Shrader, Witt Shrader, Maya Shrader, and Madison Gordon.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with the Reverend Don Watkins officiating.
