NEWARK: James D. McGee, age 95, of Newark, OH and formerly of Perrysburg and Waterville passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Chapel Grove, Heath, OH. He moved to Newark, OH a year and half ago to be nearer to family. He was born on November 13, 1916 in Saxton, PA to Charles J and Lettie Irene (Blackburn) McGee. He married Jane (Hobart) on August 12, 1941 in Pemberville, OH and she passed away on September 26, 2003 after 63 years of marriage.

Jim was a teacher for the Waterville Board of Education and then became the Vice-President and Director of Employee Benefits for Johns- Manville Corporation World Headquarters for 32 years retiring in 1982. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Intelligence Corp. His memberships included Grace United Methodist Church, Perrysburg and a past president of Rotary International, Lifetime member of Toledo Personnel Managers, Honorary and Lifetime Membership in The National Council on Employee Benefits, a former member of the Colorado Blue Cross and Blue Shield Board of Trustees. He was a 72 year member of the Findlay Masonic Blue Lodge, Chapter and Council. He was a longtime volunteer at Otterbein Portage Valley.

He is survived by his son, Dr. David L. (Jean) McGee; daughter, Marcia L. (Ed) Hoskinson; grandchildren, Tracy L. (Peter) Osborne, D. Brett (Deb) McGee, Mary Jane (Eric) Burgess, Elizabeth (Matt) Mc Elroy and William E. (Lindsey) Hoskinson; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary L. Stone.
Friends will be received at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg (419-874-3133) from 4 until 7 P.M. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in Grace United Methodist Church, 601 E. Boundary, Perrysburg, OH conducted by Rev. Dennis Ditto. Burial will be in Wakeman Cemetery, Waterville, OH. The family suggests memorials to Grace United Methodist Church or K-9 Companions for Independence, P.O. Box 446, Santa Anna, CA, 95402. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff at Otterbein Portage Valley and Chapel Grove for their care and devotion.
