She was born in West Salem on Dec. 18, 1922, to George H. and Ila (née Caskey) Zook.
She married Robert Floyd Hines on Nov. 13, 1957.
LaVonne will best be known for her fun-loving personality and love for people. LaVonne was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother who always put family and friends first. The legacy and gift she left her family was the ability to love unconditionally.
LaVonne was blessed with 27 years of retirement with her husband. She retired after 39 years with Westfield Companies.
She was active in Westfield Girls Club, a member of the Garfield chapter of Eastern Stars, a Girl Scout leader, as well as an active member of West Salem United Methodist Church.
She also loved to travel, make new friends and do for others.
LaVonne will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert; children, Dixie (Keith) Pope and Ila (Joe) Sadjewicz; and grandchildren, Nicholas (Angie) Pope, Ross Pope and Rachel (Brian) Willard. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews, of which two, Virginia (Harold) Krouse and Arlene Napier, were an essential part of her daily life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clayton, Kenneth and George; and sister, Dessie Beard.
Funeral services for LaVonne will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Matteson Funeral Home with Pastor Beryl Baum officiating. The family will receive visitors 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment services will be in Wooster Cemetery.
