EAST PEORIA, IL - Brenda L. McCollum, 65, of East Peoria passed away at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Heartland of Riverview.

Born Dec. 22, 1947, in Pinson, Tenn., the youngest daughter of Jimmie and Roxie Green Jackson, Brenda married Gary E. McCollum on Dec. 18, 1965, in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, one son, one sister, and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Roxie (Weaver) Jackson; one daughter, Lori Lee; one brother, James Jackson; and two sisters, Mildred Sheffield and Shirley Kostas.

Brenda last worked in 2000 as a secretary for District 150, having earned a certified professional secretary certification in 1985.

Brenda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, working with computers and nurturing her growing family.

Brenda was a member of Peoria Heights Congregational Church in Peoria Heights.

Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
