Law enforcement officer. He was the jail commander at the Marin County Sheriff's Department. He joined the department in 1966, rose to sergeant and then lieutenant. He joined the Navy in 1950 but soon transferred to the Marine Corps and served during the Korean Conflict as a Corpsman. Following his discharge he joined the San Francisco Police Department in 1958. He left law enforcement briefly to join the management of a San Francisco scavenger company.
