Billy Edward Greenway, age 78, of Twin Barns Road, Greeneville, passed away Sunday evening at Takoma Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was the son of the late Lela Bell (Davis) and Gordon G. Greenway Sr. of Greene County.

Mr. Greenway was retired from the Weavexx Company of Greeneville after 40 years of service.

He was of the Baptist tradition of faith. Most important to him were the Word of God and his church family.

Mr. Greenway enjoyed working on the farm, keeping a well-groomed lawn and garden, and working with the Republican Party.

He had two loving cats, which he cherished, named Sister and MaMaw.

Survivors include his faithful wife of 57 years: Margaret S. Greenway; one sister: Patsy Greenway Moore and her husband, Glenn Moore, and two brothers and their wives: Gordon "Buster" Greenway Jr. and Valerie Russell Greenway and Jimmy Dan and Sue Greenway, all of Greene County; one niece: Kelleye Malone and her husband, Carl Malone, one great-niece: Sierra Malone, and one great-nephew: Silas Malone, all of Washington County; one sister-in-law: Kathern B. Stroyan of Meceo, Fla.; one niece: Tammy Arneson of Illinois; three great-nieces: Emily, Gordan, and Presley Arneson of Illinois; two nephews: Steve Sluder of Greenwood, S.C., and Phillip E. Sluder and his wife, Vickie Moore, of South Carolina; and special cousins: Tommy Greenway, Dorothy Rader, Bobby Mysinger, Douglas Mysinger, Bea Waddell, and Billie Lee Collette.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 8 o'clock Thursday evening in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Doyle Pruett and the Rev. Michael Taylor will officiate. Committal services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be L.C. Bowers, Herbert Harris Jr., Glen Waddell, Douglas Mysinger, Bobby Mysinger, and Marshall Weems.
