Mike J. Capelety, 76, of Elyria, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Aristocrat Berea. He was born January 6, 1931 in Fairmont, West Virginia and has been a resident of Elyria since 1954.

He served with the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953 where he was stationed in Germany.

He was employed at Abex Corporation in Elyria for 30 years retiring as a foreman in 1985.

His interests included metal detecting, camping, golfing and bowling, and he enjoyed attending his grandchildrens sporting events.

Mike is survived by sons, Michael W. Capelety of Grafton, Richard E. Capelety of Arkansas; six grandchildren; sister, Marie Watson of Severn, Maryland; brother, Leonard Capelety of Mannington, West Virginia; his longtime companion, Kathy Herman of Elyria.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Capelety; parents, Mike and Hulda Capelety; sister, Josephine Ellingson; and a granddaughter, Leanna Capelety.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, 2007 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, where the Funeral Service will be Friday, December 21, 2007 at 10 A.M. Rev. Allen Grothe will officiate. Burial will be in Columbia Township Cemetery.
