VERSAILLES - Kenneth R. Sprague, 71, of Eaton Road, Versailles passed away Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2012) at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY.
He was born Jan. 25, 1941 in Perrysburg, NY, the son of the late Edward and Isabelle (Snyder) Sprague.
Mr. Sprague was a Main Supervisor for the Department of Mental Hygiene at Gowanda Psychiatric Center for 34 years, retiring in 1992. He also owned and operated Sprague Plumbing and Heating.
He was a social member of the Gowanda Moose Club, Gowanda VFW #5007, Slovenian Club and the Perrysburg Conservation Club.
Surviving are his wife, Florence (Bush) Sprague; three daughters, Teresa Giambrone of Gowanda, NY, Mary Sprague of Perrysburg, NY and Melissa (Christopher) Burke of Ilion, NY; six grandchildren; one great grand- daughter; two brothers, Ed- ward (Verna) Sprague II and Myrton (Marjorie) Sprague, both of Versailles, NY; a sister, Ruth (Adrian) Westland of Perrysburg, NY; a brother-in-law, Mo Maines of Versailles, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis in 1992; and a sister, Evelyn Maines.
Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main St. in Gowanda, NY on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Versailles Vol. Fire Dept. or the American Cancer Society.
