On June 15, 1862 at the age of 35, Jacob joined the Confederate Army. He enlisted in the town of Columbus, County of Colorado, TX. He was a Pvt. in Capt. Charles Bickley's Company, Griffin's Battalion Texas Infantry. This Company later became Company F. Griffin's Battalion Texas Infantry, also known as the 21st Regiment. One of Jacob's Confederate documents states he appears on a register of General Hospital, Houston, TX. He had remittant fever and was admitted October 20, 1862. This record also states On October 30, 1862 he was furloughed 15 days. Remarks state he went home to Frelsburg. Record signed by H. W. Johnson. Recorded Confed. Arch., chap. 6, file number 275, page 106.

Gravesite Details
According to church records Jacob Brenk was buried Dec. 27, 1907. I am not sure of his exact date of death ... may have been on the same day he was buried.
