Tommy Mack Henderson was born October 13, 1949 in Dewalt, Texas to the late Eddie ("Bo Pete") Henderson and Sarah Gibbs. He was the oldest of eight children. Tommy attended John Foster Dulles High School in Stafford where he represented the Vikings in various sports and clubs. After graduating in 1968, he enlisted in the United States Marines Corps. He was very proud to serve his country and fight for the cause of freedom. Tommy was part of the 2nd Battalion 26th Marines where he climbed the ranks and became a Sergeant in Infantry Training and served two tours in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1972. Once coming back home from service, he attended Texas Southern University. Tommy, an employee for National Oilwell Varco, worked as a machinist in the oil & gas industry for nearly 40 years. All his life Tommy has known the Lord, who chose to call His soldier home on January 30, 2013. Though he will be missed, the most cherished memories are those where this loving father enjoyed celebrating special occasions by dining with his family at Houston's finest restaurants. In his spare time, Tommy enjoyed watching movies, fishing, playing chess and debating over various current events. Tommy is survived by his wife, Beverly Carol Henderson, five children: Cara Riccardi, Crystal Henderson, Candice Henderson, Corlis Henderson, and Christian Henderson; one grandchild Aidan Thomas Riccardi; 4 siblings: Earnest Duncan, Freddie Lee Duncan, Jr., Gerald Duncan, and Mary Duncan, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. The viewing will be held on Friday, February 8, from 7 - 9 pm, at Sugar Land Mortuary, 1818 Eldridge Rd, Sugar Land, TX 77478. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 9 at 11 am at Fort Bend Church, 1900 Eldridge Rd, Sugar Land, TX 77478. There will be a lunch reception to be held after the burial service at Sugar Land Mortuary. Please call 281-277-1818 for any questions regarding arrangements.
