PIONEER RESIDENT PASSED AWAY MONDAY
F.L.J.H. (Linc) Tice, 88, a pioneer resident of this community, passed away Monday morning at his home in Monroe. He had been in failing health for many years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Crumpacker Funeral Home with the Rev. H.E. Ketcham officiating. The funeral home was crowded with friends, neighbors and relatives who came to pay their respects to this old-time resident, who was so well thought of in this community.
Graveside rites were in charge of the Monroe Knights of Pythias, with Ross Mowry of Newton, officiating.
Flowers were in charge of Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Whitted, and Mrs. Harold Bowie.
Music was furnished by soloist Mrs. Wm. Lewis, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Ralph Gloyd.
Pallbearers were Ted Duncan, Ralph Gloyd, Harold North, John Walker, Ralph Warner and Howard Roberts.
Interment was in the Monroe cemetery.

Flavious Lincoln Josephus Herchul Tice was born near Monroe, August 13, 1860, and passed away at his home in Monroe on December 6, 1948, at the age of 88 years, 3 months and 23 days. He was the son of Allen and Harriet Tice. Two brothers and two sisters all have preceeded him in death, also two sons, - one died in infancy and William Edward passed away on July 8, 1935. He leaves to
mourn his passing his wife, two sons - Ralph of Algona, Robert of Monroe, and one daughter - Hazel of Monroe, two grandchildren - a grandson, Herchul of Monroe, and a granddaughter, Roberta Ann of Prairie City, one step-daughter and a step-son, and a host of relatives and friends.
