LANE, BONNIE B. - 92, devoted mother and grandmother, born July 12, 1920, died peacefully at Remington House Assisted Living in Kingsport, TN on Feb. 2, 2013. She is survived by her son Donald W. Lane (Ingrid) of Kingsport, daughter Linda Thiele Williams (James M.) of Knoxville, and daughter Patsy Lane Potter (Bill) of Kingsport. Her grandchildren are Stephen Lane of Kingsport, Charles Lane (Julie) of Rome, GA, Melissa Blalock (Ben), Michael D. Richardson (Lauren), and Marcus Thiele, all of Knoxville, Matthew M. Richardson (Amy) of Atlanta, GA, Mayne Thiele (Elisa) of Nashville, TN, Amy Potter Steisslinger (Greg) of Morristown, Andy Potter (Lindsey) of Austin, TX. Her great grandchildren are Noah and David Lane, Quillen and Nathaniel Blalock, Grant, Anna, and John Richardson, Max and Stuart Richardson, Eli and Ty Steisslinger, and Katherine June Potter. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Bowery Carter (Dale) of Kingsport, sisters-in-law Rosemary Bowery, Evelyn Lane New, and Sarah Lane, all of Kingsport, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her dear husband of 47 years, Maldon A. Lane, her parents Verlin and Vergie Bowery, brothers Haskell, Claude, and V.E. Bowery. Mrs. Lane was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church in Kingsport, where she had taught Sunday School for many years. She was active in school activities throughout the years, and she also served as a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary at Holston Valley Community Hospital. She was first of all a devoted homemaker who treasured her family and was always there with love, encouragement, Christian leadership, and support. An excellent and creative seamstress, she delighted in using her hands to create many quilts, knitted Christmas tree skirts, and embroidered items which she lovingly presented to family and friends. The family expresses a special thank you to the wonderful staff of Remington House, Amedisys Hospice, Comfort Keepers, and the special healthcare professionals who helped with her care during the past month. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UT College of Nursing, Bonnie Lane Scholarship Fund, c/o Debby Powell, 1200 Volunteer Blvd. Knoxville 37996 or a charity of choice . At her request, a simple graveside service was held at 1:00 PM on Monday, Feb. 2, 2013 at East Lawn Memorial Park, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
