Ruth E. Weaver, 91, of Decatur, formerly of Lovington passed away 5:36 P.M. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Lovington United Methodist Church, Lovington. Visitation at NMcMullin-Young Funeral Home, Lovington. Burial will be in Hewitt Cemetery, Lovington. Memorials may be made to the Shriners' Crippled Children's Hospital in memory of her husband, Bill. The family suggest casual attire.
Ruth was born May 21, 1921, in rural Moultrie County near Lake City, the third of four children of Rush Corbin Weeks and Zona (Adkins) Weeks. She graduated from Lovington High School. She was united in marriage to William "Bill" Kenneth Weaver on July 4,1939 in St. Louis, MO. In 1941 they moved to Peoria. While living there she was employed by Block and Kuhl Company in the administration office for 17 years much of that time as head of the Statistical Department. In 1961 they moved to Decatur when they purchased the Harley-Davidson dealership. Bill died on June 20, 1989 and she sold the business in 1991. Ruth was a member of the Lovington United Methodist church for over 70 yrs having joined on May 20, 1934, a life member of the Decatur Quilters Guild, Cloverleaf Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the American Motorcyclist Association. She was a former member of the Motormaids of America and the Peoria Motorcycle Club Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, quilting and traveling.
She is survived by her brothers, Rush C. Weeks of Flatwood, KY and George W. Weeks of Vine Grove, KY.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Betty Allen.
