At the age of 2, dad moved to Dayton, Idaho which he always considered his home. In 1943 Roy left Dayton to work on his uncle's dairy in Artesia, California. He returned to Utah in 1945 to work for the Bureau of Reclamation. In 1946 he returned to Dayton to help with the family farm. In 1949 he went to work at Toole Ordinance Depot. He retired from Hill Air Force Base in September 1980. Dad enjoyed spending time with his family, helping his brother Bud on the farm, raising cows and gardening.
Roy is survived by his two sons: Blaine R. and Jill Eck of South Ogden, Denis J. and Betty Jeffs, of Ogden, his twin brother, Ray (Flora) Eck of Ogden, his sister, Shirley (Ralph) Corless of Kaysville and his brother, Elton "Bud" (Eileen) Eck of Dayton, Idaho. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Stotts, Wilma Scheel, and brothers, Dale Eck and Reed Eck.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow at the Dayton Idaho Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
The family would like to thank his neighbors Mike and Marcia Dennis and Nola Packer for the kindness and friendship they showed dad during the last several years. They would also like to thank the staff of McKay Dee Hospital and IHC Hospice for their care in his last few days.
