Jennie, Mereke and Jonsha immigrated with their parents to America in 1889. The family settled in Mahaska County IA where William pursued farming, as did many of the Dutch immigrants.
January 7 1909 in Mahaska County, Jennie married Arie, son of Gerrit and Maria (DeJong) VanDe Haar. Jennie was 23 years old and Arie was 40. Arie was a farmer. They had two children, Gerrit "Gary" born 1911 who married Gladys DeKock, and Gertrude Marie born 1914 who married Clarence Schroeder.
By 1940 Arie had passed away and their daughter, Gertrude, was living with Jenny on Broadway St. in Pella.
Jennie was 81 when she passed away after being a widow for 32 years.
