Rudy Paulk Abramson, 70, of Reston, Va., and formerly of Cloverdale, died Feb. 13, 2008.
Beloved husband of Joyce; loving father of Kristin Abramson and Karin (Abramson) Bowles; adored grandfather of Gibson, Whitt and Coleman Bowles; cherished brother of Sue (Abramson) Behel, of Florence; son of (the late) Emmett and Ina (Paulk) Abramson.
Rudy was born in Florence and raised in Cloverdale. He was an alumnus of Cloverdale Junior High School and Central High School. After high school, Rudy attended the University of Mississippi, graduated in three years, completed a fellowship in science writing at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and launched a distinguished career in journalism. Although he traveled the world, Rudy's heart remained in northwest Alabama.
Family and friends will gather at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2008. A celebration of Rudy's life will follow at 11 a.m. Honorary pallbearers will be the 1952 ninth-grade class of Cloverdale Junior High School and the 1955 graduating class of Central High School.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Wesley Chapel Cemetery Fund, 11025 County Road 15, Florence, AL 35633, or the Cloverdale School Library Fund, 12101 Highway 157 North, Florence, AL 35633.
