Calvert Texas Oct 6, The remains of J. Adoue were laid to rest in the Old Cemetery of Calvert this morning at 10:30. The large concourse of mourning friends testified in a small degree the love in which he was held by the people of our city. For over thirty years he had been a friend and counselor of ever one even the humblest of our citizens. With a heart that responded with sympathy the widow and orphan never appealed in vain and to the forlorn and stranded brother he extended his strong right hand and with words of sympathy and good counsel bade him take heart again. Jacques Adoue was born in Aurignac, a small village in the southern part of France, on the 20th day of June 1851 and first came to Calvert in 1871 and has lived here ever since.

He leaves a wife and five children, Mrs Tom M Taylor of Palestine, Mr Julian Adoue of Houston, Misses Lucy and Maggie and James Adoue of Calvert, two brothers B Adoue of Galveston and J B Adoue of Dallas, and a sister in France, also two adopted children Mrs Sam P McLendon of Waco and E T Beard of Calvert.

Messrs M L Coliat, J A Foster, William Mcintosh, J G Volli, W S Bailey, A D Brashear, L A Bergerson and Scott Field acted as pall bearers. Rev John R Dunn the Episcopal minister officiated.

Per Bryan Morning Eagle Newspaper, Oct 6, 1906
Advices received from Calvert yesterday, are that Capt. J Adoue's death, reported in the Eagle yesterday morning, was due to paralysis of the heart and was brought on by his having become overheated at the recent compress fire at Calvert
