Ernest Q. Ball, 92, of Hewett, was born December 20, 1918, at Hewett, a son of the late Roy and Josie Baldwin Ball. He departed this life Thursday, June 9, 2011, at his residence.

Mr. Ball was a retired coal miner from Amherst Coal Company at Slagle and a member of the Spencer Methodist Church at Meadow Fork of Hewett and the UMWA.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Florence Meyer Ball; son, Gregory (Linda) Ball of Amherstdale; four sisters, Patricia Vlad of Warren, Mich., Sonja (James) DeHart of Hurricane, Brenda (Paul) Hughes of Hewett and Rhoda Estep of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Arnett Ball of Hewett; grandson, Gregory Scott (Michelle) Ball of Monaville; granddaughter, Shanna (Herby) Pruitt of Amherstdale, and a host of friends and other relatives.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, June 13, at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Roger McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
