"JOSHUA GREENE [sic] DIED AT PETROLIA
Joshua Greene [sic], a retired farmer and one of the oldest residents of the vicinity, died at his home in Petrolia on Tuesday afternoon, November 24, at 3:15 o'clock. Mr. Greene [sic] had been a resident of Petrolia for 53 years. He had been in poor health since August. Deceased was born on August 16, 1834, in Alfred, being the son of Clarke and Angeline (Witter) Greene [sic]. He was twice married. His first wife was Sarah Burdick, who died several years ago. He is survived by his second wife who was Martha Mead, also the following children; Mrs. Robert Clair, Olean; Mrs. Myra Hoffman, Bolivar; Albert J. Greene [sic], Alma; and David Greene [sic] of Allentown. There is one brother, Daniel Greene of Oswayo Pa. Mr. Greene [sic] was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist church of Wellsville
The funeral was held on Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Union church. The Rev. Clyde Ehret of Alfred, officiated. Burial was in the Bellamy cemetery.—Bolivar Breeze."
