Funeral services for I. Z. Young, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Bonham and Fannin County, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Louis Holmes, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Leonard Cemetery, Leonard, TX. I. Z. passed away early Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 in Mt. Pleasant.
I. Z. was born April 5, 1925 in Leonard, Texas, the son of Vester A. Young and Florence Myrtle Bailey Young. He attended schools in Leonard and the Sandy Community of Fannin County. I. Z. farmed and raised cattle for many years. He later worked for Fairview Nursing Home and Bonham Nursing Center. I. Z. was a dedicated caregiver; taking care of his parents and three brothers prior to their deaths. He was a lifelong resident of Fannin County until his failing health made it necessary to move closer to family. I. Z. was a faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church for 60 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Elmer Young, Benton Young, Leon Young, Horace Young and Morris Young; and a sister, Lucille Walker.
I. Z. is survived by his brother, Kenneth Young of Mt. Vernon, Texas,sister, Willie Mae Evans of Fort Worth, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, his church family and many friends.
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until service time, Friday
