   Mary E. Fox, age 90, of Edwardsville, died at 1 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Eden Village Care Center.
Mary was a retired registered nurse. She served as director of nursing at Hitz Home in Alhambra, the Madison County Nursing Home, Anna Henry Nursing Home and St. Joseph's Hospital in Alton.
   Mary was born June 24, 1920, in Hartleton, Pa., daughter of the late Fred and Hilda (Grove) Showalter.
   She married Vernon S. Fox on May 14, 1946, in Milmont, Pa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2002.
Mary was survived by a son, a daughter, a granddaughter, a grandson, four great grandchildren, three step-granddaughters; a brother and a sister.
   Mary was a veteran of World War II having served as a First Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. Mary received the American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
   She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, The Immanuel United Methodist Women, served on the Collinsville School Board, and was a Den Mother and Girl Scout leader. She also served on the Board of Directors at Eden Village.
   Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Friday, July 23, at Weber and Rodney Funeral Home.
   Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at Immanuel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jackie Havis-Shear officiating.
   Interment was at Valley View Cemetery.
