also, Lieutenant in a company commanded by (late) Capt. David Fairbank's of Dedham, Col Mcintach's(Mcintosh's) regt.; marched to Roxbury March 4, 1776; service 4 days; roll endorsed "Dorchester Heights;"
also, 1st Lieutenant, Capt. Nathan Ellis's (6th) co.,Col. William Mcintosh's (1st Suffolk Co) regt.; list of officers of Mass. militia; ordered in Council May 10, 1776; Joseph Ellis reported chosen in place of said Colburn June 21, 1776.
Also listed as" Lieutenant in Capt. William Ellis's co Col Heath's regt., which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775.; service 5 days."
This discrepancy may be that Lt. William Ellis may have covered for his brother-in-law, Capt David Fairbanks, as Captain at times.
