Kathleen "Kat" A. Armitage, of the Asheville Highway, went to be with the Lord Wednesday at Laughlin Healthcare Center, at the age of 90-years.
She was a member of Towering Oaks Baptist Church.
Mrs. Armitage retired from Sprint Telephone Co.
She was the eldest daughter of the late William Dosson Ambrose Sr. and Millie Bell Combs Ambrose.
She is survived by sisters: Faye Ambrose and Wilma "Billie" Hensley, all of Greeneville, Lynda Ambrose and Tommy Blazer of Mosheim, Cora Sheehan of Belmont, Calif., and Glennie Ambrose of Greeneville; a brother-in-law: Willard Jay Cansler of Midway; a sister-in-law: Dorothy Ambrose of Jonesborough; and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her husband: Jack L. Armitage; two sisters: Maye Ambrose Cansler of Midway and Mary Jo Ambrose Logan of Texas; two brothers Dewey Ambrose of Greeneville and W.D. "Dubb" Ambrose of Jonesborough; and a brother-in-law: Wayland Thomas Hensley of Greeneville.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Downtown, with the funeral service following at 7 p.m. in the downtown chapel. The Rev. Dennis Shumate will officiate.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Broyles, Brent Seaton, Jerry Griffin and the members of Towering Oaks Baptist Church
