NEWCASTLE, Neb. | Brian Christian Chase, 48, of Newcastle, entered into eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Congregational Church in Newcastle, with the Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Burial will be in Lime Creek Cemetery, south of Maskell, Neb.. Visitation with family present will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, Neb. Brian "Giz" was born Oct. 7, 1964, in Lynwood, Calif., to Al and Cris (Anderson) Chase. He was baptized and a member of UCC Congregational Church of Newcastle. During his childhood years he lived in the Crofton, Neb., and Newcastle areas, graduating from Newcastle Public School in 1983. He was a member of the Nebraska National Guard for several years, beginning in 1982.

His lifetime career was as a journeyman electrician, beginning his career with his dad at Chase Electric in South Sioux City. He was currently employed at Quality Control Electric. He was often recognized for his fantastic work ethic, not only on the job but freely giving his time in helping others in whatever needed doing.

Brian especially enjoyed any social activity and playing cards and pool. He enjoyed those special country roads he loved to drive. His free spirit and kind heart left an everlasting imprint on his family and all who loved him.

Survivors include his children, Brett Chase, of Newcastle, and Miranda Chase, of Youngstown, Ariz.; his grandmother and birthday twin, Dorothy L. Anderson, of Newcastle; his parents, Al and Ronna Chase, of Glendale, Ariz., and Tom and Cris Calvert, of Newcastle; siblings, Michelle (Chase) McElwain (friend Steve Brown), of Sioux City, Scott and Lupita Chase, of Newcastle, Steve and Shanin (Chase) Harding, of Wynstone, S.D., and Kyle Calvert, of Newcastle; Brian's soul mate, whom he adored, Alison Clickenger, and her two sons, Josh and Jonah Lee, all of Maskell; seven nephews; a niece; and two great-nieces, whom he promised to marry when they were older.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Joe McCabe.

Casket bearers will be his nephews, Michael McDonald, Clayton McCabe, Ryan McCabe, Joel McCabe, Eric Chase, Chris Chase and Ben McElwain. Honorary casket bearers will be his niece and great-nieces, Emily McElwain and Makenzy and Megan Livingston.
