Doris L. Rush, 81, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at her home.

Doris LaVonne was born August 24, 1931 in Sioux City, the daughter of Don E. and Erma (Smith) Cooley. She was raised in the Climbing Hill area until moving to the Woodbury County Home where her father was the superintendent. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City in 1949.
Doris and Douglas M. Rush were united in marriage August 12, 1951 at Grace United Methodist Church. The couple farmed and Doris worked with Iowa Public Service for 35 years. She later served families with Rush Family Care Service from 1999-2012, when she retired to care for Douglas. Douglas passed away March 4, 2012.
Doris was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City and of the Morningside Rose Croix Chapter 502 O.E.S.
Doris is survived by three sons and their wives, Dennis and Janet Rush of Omaha, NE, Douglas and Sharon Rush of Onawa, IA, and Dale and Mary Ann Rush of Sioux City, IA; six grandchildren, Jason, Melissa, Cody, Amanda, Jennifer, and Douglas M. "Doug" Rush; one step-grandson, Tim Turner; four sisters-in-law, Harriet (Bob) Johnson of Brandon, S.D., Phyllis De Wolfe of Sioux City, IA, Lorraine Rush of Osborn, MO, and Donna Rush of Huntington, OR; an uncle, Orlan Hargens of Lincoln, NE; two life-long friends Guyleen Tippery of Mapleton, IA and Leonard E. Brown of Sioux City, IA; and many more relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; her parents, Don E. and Erma Cooley; her parents-in-law, Clyde H. and Emma Rush; daughter-in-law, Connie Rush; four brothers-in-law, Robert (Bob) Rush, Wilfred (Bill) Rush, Charles O. Johnson, and Al De Wolfe; a sister-in-law, Elaine Johnson; a niece, Patti Albrecht; and many other relatives and friends.
