Norma Gayle (Carver) Daniel

Norma Gayle (Carver) Daniel was born July 4, 1935 in Floydada to Bemous and Gertrude (Colston) Carver. She attended school in Floydada and graduated from Floydada High School in 1953. Gayle married Don M. Daniel in Clovis, N.M. on Dec. 22, 1952. Don was in the Navy. The day after Gayle graduated from high school she moved to Chicago, Ill., where Don was stationed.

Three children were born to Don and Gayle, a daughter, Zahn Turner; and two sons, Marty Daniel and the late Dan Daniel. Gayle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and caring friend. She was a very creative and talented person. She was a member of the Whirlwind Sam's Club and was on the Board of Directors of Floydada Senior Citizens. Gayle had been a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. She had two sons and a grandson that are Eagle Scouts.

She was a member of the Living Water Emmaus Community and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Floydada. Survivors are her husband, Don Daniel of Floydada; a daughter and son-in-law, Zahn and Terry Turner of Floydada; a son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Nancy Daniel of San Angelo; grandchildren, Kayla and John Nicolau of Lubbock, Shayla Turner of Ft. Worth, Chad Turner of Lubbock, Lindsey Daniel of Austin and Whitney Daniel of San Angelo; a sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and James Murray of Midland; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Sue Carver of Montrose, Colo., and Steven and Denise Carver of Gypsum, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Gayle was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Dan Daniel.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Floydada with the Rev. Wendell Horn officiating. Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, West Side Parking Lot Fund, 203 W. Kentucky, Floydada, TX 79235.
