Although our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing you suffer no more.

On Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, Franklin D. "Deke" Watts Sr., of Westwood passed away peacefully in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. During his passing, he was surrounded by many family members who loved him dearly.

Franklin was born March 15, 1945, to the late Otis and Cora Belle Morgan Watts.

Frank served proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was very dedicated to all his family and was an avid sports fan.

In addition to his loving parents, he was preceded in death by five older brothers, James E. Watts, Paul Watts, Jack Watts, Otis Watts and Billy Ray Watts, as well as his oldest sister, Imogene Hartley, and an infant sister, Ruth Watts.

Frank is survived by his wife, Diana Moore Watts, a son, Frank Watts Jr. of Ashland, three daughters, Christina Watts of Barboursville, W.Va., Melissa Watts of Westwood and Heather Moore Smith of Rush; two stepsons, Dan and Mark Tackett of Ashland; and four wonderful grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Woodrow Watts of Ashland and Roger Watts of Westwood; four sisters, Lola Hazelwood of Greers Ferry, Ark., Betty Ferrell of Marion, Ind., and Dottie Watts and Loretta Huff of Westwood; and many special nieces and nephews.

During his 67 years on this Earth, he personally touched so many lives. He will forever be remembered for his caring ways, kind heart and legendary stories.

Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, February 7, 2013, by Brother Perry Young, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial, with military honors by Ironton VFW Post 8850, will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County.

Visitation wil be after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
