Charlotte Mason was born to Melvin Stanford and Myrtle Ivy Stephenson Johnson on February 5, 1916 in Kiowa, Kansas. She departed this life at the Country Living Inc. in Anthony on January 5, 2013, at the age of 96 years and 11 months.
On July 31, 1933, Charlotte was married to Gilbert Arthur Mason, Sr. in Cherokee, Oklahoma. To this union three children were born: Gilbert Jr., Connie and Greg.
Charlotte and Gilbert moved from Driftwood to Blackwell, Oklahoma to Anthony in 1937. Here they started their business of 23 years which was known as Mason Oil and Equipment. Eventually farming became their full time occupation. In recent years, Charlotte and Gilbert collected antiques and traveled to many shows where they were known for their collection of art glass. Charlotte was a member of the Anthony Order of the Eastern Star.
She became a resident at Country Living in 2007 and her life was enriched by the loving care she received by the staff of Country Living.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert on August 18, 1982; sister and brother-in-law: Hattie Fulghum and Neel Sr.; brother, Joe Johnson; and a stillborn brother, Melvin Johnson.
She is survived by her three children: Gilbert Mason, Jr. and wife Billie, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Connie Robinson of Anthony and Greg Mason and wife Judy, of Flagstaff, Arizona; sister, Barbara Jean Simcik and husband Victor, of Corpus Christi; brother, Davey Lee Johnson and wife Margaret, of Sapulpa, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Johnson of Tyler, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many, many friends.


Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Anthony with Reverend Terry McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Park Cemetery.
