Cyrus Chamberlain was originally buried in Coulommiers, France. In 1928 his remains were removed from the military cemetery at Coulommiers to the Lafayette Flying Corps memorial near Paris.

Cyrus was the son of Francis Asbury Chamberlain, born Maine, and Frances Taft Foss, born New York, residing at 2312 Blaisdell Avenue south. Cyrus attended Minneapolis Public Schools and Princeton University.

Cyrus Chamberlain was a sergeant in the French air service. He first joined the Lafayette Escadrille in June 1917, and when that unit disbanded, he joined the French air service. He was killed in combat with German aviators. He was awarded the French War Cross.

Wold-Chamberlain Field / Minneapolis-St Paul Airport was named for him.
