Funeral Notice
The News (Frederick, MD) July 8, 1891

Funeral services over the remains of Americus Dawson were held at his late home today and his remains were interred at Monocacy Cemetery.

Mr. Americus Dawson died suddenly at his home near Dawsonville, this county, on Sunday night last. In the death of Mr. Dawson we lose one of our most enterprising and estimable citizens, and one of the most extensive planters of this part of the State of Maryland.

His landed estate consisted of something like three thousand acres, and it is one of the best equipped plantations for the profitable pursuit of agriculture that can be found anywhere. Me. Dawson was a bachelor for many years, but a few years ago married Miss Rachel Trundle, of Frederick county, with whom he lived an exceptionally happy life, and who survives him.

He was a man of friendly, neighborly feeling, and will be particularly missed by many who have been the objects of his kindness. His own industry in intelligence were the source of his affluent condition and pleasant surroundings, as he began life with a very small pecaniary start. His tastes were domestic and his home had every appointment of refined life. Active and energetic always, in his last years he was interested in the rearing of horses, which he made a specialty, and from which he derived considerable profit.

His interest in public affairs was rational and lively, but he sought no political office. He was a director in the Rockville National Bank at the time of this death, and was in his 71st year.
