Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1977:
" Robert J. West, 55, of Meta, died unexpectedly at his home Sunday morning, Sept. 25 (1977). He suffered an apparent heart attack. Mr. West was born on April 13, 1922, in Maries County, the son of John and Olive Barnett West. On Dec. 24, 1945, he was married to Lillie Meiburger. On Feb 5, 1977, he was married to Agatha Scheulen, who survives at the home.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and had been employed as an ironworker. He was affiliated with Local No. 396 International Assn. of Bridge Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers.
Other survivors include: four sons, John and Lloyd West, both of Superior, Wyo.; Arlin West, Maynard, Ark.; and Roy West, Meta; three daughters, Mrs. Patsy Belk, Eddyville, Iowa; Mrs. Judy Morff, Green River, Wyo.; and Miss Sherry West, Westphalia;
Four step-sons, James Scheulen, Jefferson City; and Lawrence Scheulen, Jr., Koeltztown; Leroy Scheulen and Robert Scheulen, both of Meta; and one step-daughter, Miss Phyllis Scheulen, Meta.
Five sisters, Mrs. Jewel McEwen, Union; Mrs. Nellie Pendleton and Mrs. Pearl Ridenhour, both of Belle; Mrs. Brooksie Howard, Bonne Terre; and Mrs. Ethel Smith, St. Louis; five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday at the Meta Christian Church with Rev. Donald Maples officiating. Burial was in the Meta Southside Cemetery." - retyped by Mary Stigler
