Carrie Woods, of Mason, passed away on Thursday, July 11, at the age of 88. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood. Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Survivors include her son Albert Joe Woods and wife Narda of Albuquerque, NM, a sister Frances Kent and husband Tom of Mason, a brother Herman Lyon of Cleburne, one grandson Carl Woods, one great-granddaughter Brianna Woods and a sister-in-law Jean Lyon of Mason. She was preceded in death by her husband Joel Woods, a grandson Kevin Woods, three brothers Lee Lyon, James Lyon and Jerry Lyon and two sisters Jeanette Lyon James and Virginia Lyon Harvey.
Carrie was born in Rising Star in Brown County to Willie Lyon and Maude Hardin Lyon. She married Joel Woods and they lived in San Antonio for many years where Carrie worked in civil service at Kelly Air Force Base and at the Quadrangle at Fort Sam Houston. They then lived in Kingsland before moving to Mason in 1977. Carrie fought a long and courageous battle with COPD (Brondziectasis) but never lost her good sense of humor. She was a member of the Brownwood Church of Christ and then the Mason Church of Christ. She loved her family and her church families! Carrie enjoyed playing pinochle with her husband and family and visiting with friends.
