He was married January 19, 1977, to Mary (Schnee) Adam.
Born in Kutztown, January 31, 1931, to Titus and Margaret Adam, he was predeceased by his sister, Raydell (Adam) "Tootie" Krick.
Freddy was a carpenter by trade, but also worked as a maintenance man at Talbot Knitting Mill in Reading and at the Gloray Knitting Mill in Robesonia.
He is survived by his wife Mary; children, Monica Follweiler and husband, Dennis; Troy Adam and wife, Eileen; Michelle Downs and husband, Patrick; Norm Schadler and wife, Gina; and Leslie Bleistein and husband, Bill; brother Marlo Adam and wife, Tessie; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grand-children; nieces; nephews; Uncle Warren Reppert and wife, Betty; and many other loving family and friends.
Affectionately known by his friends and fans as "The Kutztown Komet," he spent many years racing in many different cars, for many different owners at many different tracks, including Hatfield and Reading Fairgrounds.
He enjoyed watching the races on TV, camping, fishing, feeding and observing the wild birds through the living room window, listening to Bluegrass music with his Cockatiel "Speedy," going to yard sales, meeting his friends for breakfast, eating out so he wouldn't have to help with the dishes, and attending racing functions to chat about the old times.
He was a member of the Kutztown Fire Co., the Kutztown Rod and Gun Club, a lifetime member of the Checkered Flag Fan club, Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, and Reading Fairgrounds and the Reading Fairgrounds Racing Historical Society.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Friends and fans may offer their condolences to the family at the Kutztown Fire Co. on Saturday, February 9th from 1-3 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following.
