Olga Gertrude Osmondson, 96, of Fertile, MN, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile, MN. She was born on the home farm in rural Winger, MN, on January 6, 1916, to John and Marie (Krogstad) Bakke. Olga was a lifelong member of Union Lake Free Lutheran Church near her home. She attended rural school and graduated from McIntosh High School, McIntosh, MN, in 1934. Following her schooling, Olga taught country school in the rural Winger area until WWII. She moved to Dearborn, MI, to work in the war effort on B-24 Bomber planes. On June 2, 1946, Olga was united in marriage to Conrad Osmondson Polk County. They made their home on a farm in Garden Township. As a farmer's wife, Olga assisted with chores, cared for the home and children. They farmed until 1972, when they retired. Over the years, Olga also worked at the Erskine Nursing Home, Erskine, MN and at a café in Fertile called Sonia's Café. Growing flowers at her home brought Olga a lot of joy. She had an easy going and accepting personality, at least until the bottle lambs would try to eat her flowers. Then Olga would race out of the house shooing the lambs away. Olga was a loving mother and grandmother with a strong and committed Christian faith. Olga is survived by four sons: Jerry (Carol) and Roger (Carol), both of Fertile, Ronald, Red Lake Falls, MN, and Gregory, Erskine, MN; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Sannes, Fertile, MN, and Grace Peterson, Minneapolis, MN; several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Conrad, 1998, daughter, Linda, 2000, and four brothers, Orton, Leonard, Walter and Melvin; two daughters-in-law: Betty and Marlys Osmondson.

Funeral service: 10:30 am, Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, MN.

Visitation: Friday from 5:00-7:00pm with a 6:30 Prayer Service at the Funeral Home.
