Andrea Irene Green, age 30, of Sturgis, passed away early Saturday evening, Jan. 5, 2012, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
She was born Nov. 22, 1982, in Houston, a daughter of Larry and Sheryl (Elliott) Green.
Andrea resided her early life in Taylor and was a graduate of Truman High School in Taylor with the class of 2000. She and her family moved to the Sturgis and Bronson area in 2003.
She was currently employed and in the management training program at the McDonald's restaurant in Sturgis. While living in Manhattan, Kan., she worked as a phlebotomist at CLS Plasma and she enjoyed her time working for her aunt at Connie's Cleaning Service in White Pigeon.
Andrea attended the Riverside Church in Three Rivers and enjoyed movies and traveling. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, because she was a friend to all and received her greatest joy when she was able to be helping others.
She is survived by her father and stepmother, Larry (Lee Ann) Green of Hemlock; her mother and stepfather, Sheryl (Doug) Elliott-Hauler of Kailua, Kona, Hawaii; a sister, Heather (Daniel) Acevedo, serving in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.; a brother, James (Ashlee) Green of Vincenza, Italy; grandparents, the Revs. Lawrence and Delores Green of Sturgis and Alva Elliott of Hawaii; three stepsisters, Jennifer Phillips of Ann Arbor, Angela McDonald of Saginaw and Rebecca Hauler Reed of North Dakota; two stepbrothers, Jeffrey Burnett of Hemlock and Doug Hauler of Kona; two nephews, David Acevedo and Angelo Acevedo; a niece, Isabella Acevedo and many step-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, David Ray Green; and maternal grandfather, James Elliott.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Andrea I. Green will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sturgis Wesleyan Church, 907 N. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. The Rev. Mark Farmer of the faith Fellowship Church in St. Charles will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan, 20300 Civic Center Drive, Southfield, MI 48076.
