Emma Louise Romberger became the bride of Frank H. Hoffman of Philadelphia on June 10, 1885. The couple was married by Reverend V. H. Brown at her parents' home on Elm Street in Princeton, Illinois.

When she passed away of an illness of many months, Emma left behind her mother, husband and her only son, Luther Romberger Hoffman. Her death certificate tells us her middle name, that she was a housewife, that her sickness was carcinoma of the liver, and her place of burial.

The 1905 Domestic Engineering and the "Journal of Mechanical Contracting, Volume 32, Issue 1" tells us her husband worked for Detroit Copper and Brass Rolling Mills. By at least 1907 he was assistant secretary. He is named as assistant general manager and on the board of directors of the firm in "The City of Detroit, Michigan, 1701-1922" by Burton, Stocking, and Miller, in 1922. That same year, Frank and his son Luther are in the Detroit Social Secretary as members of the Detroit Athletic Club.

By 1920, her widowed husband, age 58, is living in his rented home with son Luther R Hoffman (age 33), his daughter in law Bertha C Hoffman (age 32, born in NY), his granddaughter Charlotte Hoffman (age 6, born in Michigan) and servant Martha Lock, age 34.

In finding Emma's husband Frank's death, we come full circle and find he was born in the same town as his mother in law, Francisca Weaver... Frank H. Hoffman died April 28, 1928 in Detroit, a 66 year old widower. His death certificates states he was born November 11, 1862, to Allentine Hoffman (sic, should be Valentine) and Maria Hickman in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
