Betty J. Achey-Angelou, 66, of East Stroudsburg, died on Tuesday at her home after a three year struggle with cancer. Born on October 8, 1934 in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Milton O. and Bertha M. (Rice) Kuhn. She was a resident of East Stroudsburg since 1995 and of Saylorsburg prior to that.
She graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem. She worked at a floor woman for Hughes Printing, now Mack Printing, in East Stroudsburg for over 20 years until she retired in 1995. She was a member of the Pocono Mountain Bible Fellowship Church in Mount Pocono.
She is survived by her husband Peter P. Angelou Jr. at home; her son Raymond V. Achey III of Saylorsburg; her daughter, Debbie J. Gardner of Saylorsburg; three stepchildren, Peter P. Angelou III of Piscataway, N.J., Susan E. Esbensen of Stockton, N.J., James R. Angelou of Blairstown, N.J.; four brothers, Clifford Kuhn of Allentown, Charles Kuhn of Bethlehem, Edwood Kuhn of Hellertown, Maynard Kuhn of Bethlehem; two sisters, Irene Buskirk of Allentown and Jean Loftus of Catasaqua; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service at Pocono Mountain Bible Fellowship Church in Mount Pocono on Saturday, October 6 at 11 a.m. Cremation will have already taken place at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
