Orlean Bagley was born in the vicinity of the Mississippi River railroad town of Wyalusing in Grant County in the southwestern corner of Wisconsin. Orlean was the third of seven sons born to Dorlen Bagley and Agusta (or Augusta) Newman. He grew up and helped on the family farm in this location until between 1905 and 1910 when his parents and brothers moved to Willowbank Township, southeast of Edgeley, La Moure County, North Dakota where he lived until 1920. Orlean Bagley appears to have remained a bachelor at least through 1940, remaining close to his parents and brothers. At the time of the 1920 Federal Census he was working as a laborer in Burbank Township Kandiyohi County, central Minnesota with his parents and younger brothers. In 1930 Orlean was farming with his older brother Lincoln Bagley in Roseville, Kandiyohi County, and in 1940 Orlean Bagley was heading up a household consisting of his elderly father and younger brother Ben Bagly and family, while farming in Roseville Township. Orlean Bagley died on January 29, 1959 in Stearns County, Minnesota, and is buried in the Roseville Cemetery right west of Hawick, Minnesota. Orlean Bagley appears to have married late in life, since next to his grave is an identical grave marker for a Sylvia M. "Sally" Bagley, who lived from 1896 to 1974.
