Pastor of Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church from October 10, 1965 to August 31, 1986.

Rev. Robert F. Scott, age 86, of Cokesbury Village, Hockessin, Delaware, died in Harper's Ferry, West Virginia on October 20, 2006.

He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and was employed by Roman Haas in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as a chemical engineer. During his employment with Roman Haas, he helped make the first commercial batch of DDT and was told it was not harmful to humans. He served as a student pastor in Cream Ridge, and New Egypt, New Jersey and also taught chemistry at Princeton University, while he studied at Princeton Seminary until his graduation in 1948. After Princeton Seminary, he became a missionary in Madison County, North Carolina and also served at First Presbyterian Church in Saginaw, Michigan. While he was working on his Doctorate in Church History at the University of Pennsylvania, he served as the interim pastor in several churches in Philadelphia including Tenth Presbyterian Church. He became a pastor in Reading, Pennsylvania, and came to Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church in Centreville, Delaware, in 1965, serving as pastor for 21 years. After his retirement, he became the Chaplain at Ingleside Retirement Apartments for 10 years and then went to St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he taught many adult classes.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bettie; sons, Doke T. of Newark, Delaware, and Matthew Page of Asheville, North Carolina; also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and students.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 27, 2006, at Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church, 117 Old Kennett Road, Centreville, Delaware 19807; or St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1314 Foulk Road, Wilmington, Delaware 19803.
