Miss Mary Alice Hatchett of 104 Oakhurst, retired assistant director of Carnegie Public Libary who was awarded a certificate of merit for her outstanding contributions librarianship in Ms. by the Ms. Library Association, died Monday, Jan 6, 1991, at Northwest Ms.Reginal Medical Center. She was 86.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery.
A Charter member of the Carnegie Public Libary Friends of the Library and a former member of the American Library Association, Miss Hatchitt received her merit award and life membership in the Ms. Library Association on her retirement from Carnegie Library.b
Born in Isola Ms., She lived most of her life in Clarksdale. Where she served on the administrative board and active member of First United Methodist Church.
Her survivors include two sisters Mrs. Oliean Foley and Mrs. Betty Lou Mathews, both of Clarksdale, four nieces, Miss Nancy Foley of Seattle, Wash., Miss Mary Elizabeth Foley of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Susie McQuade of Dallis, Tx., and Mrs. Joyce Pattillo of Valrico, Fla.; four nephews, Thomas Lee Hatchett, and James Hatchett Jr., both of Clarksdale, Tim Foley Jr. of Cleveland and Dr. Harry T. Mathews of Knoxville, Tenn.
