Per the funeral article in the Sacramento Bee [April 19, 1949], Lt. Pierucci was killed in action while serving as a bombardier-navigator with a bomber group of the 9th Air Force. He had grown up in Broderick and graduated from Woodland High School. After graduation, he worked at the Sacramento Air Depot until entering the service in January 1943. Survived by his mother Ida Botteri, stepfather Alfredo Botteri, brothers Marino and Richard Pierucci, and sister Diana Botteri.
