OAKLAND, Oct. 26. --- Archibald Ford, 78 years old, inventor and manufacturer of gas regulators, died today at his home, 1048 Fifty-sixth street, after a long illness.
Ford was a native of Glasgow, Scotland. He came to Oakland 37 years ago. Six children survive---Mrs. J. W. Palmer of New York, Mrs. Walter Fairchilds of New York, Mrs. J. T. Shepherd of Oakland, William H. Ford, George E. Ford of Alameda and Charles W. Ford of Cananena, Mexico.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Henderson's undertaking parlors, Twenty-third street and Telegraph avenue. Rev. S. E. Crowe, pastor of the First Methodist church of Oakland, will officiate.

Eventful Life of Seventy-
Eight Years.
Archibald Ford, 78 years of age, who had been a resident of this city for 35 years, died yesterday at his home 1048 Fifty-sixth street. He is survived by six children, Mrs. Walter Fairchild of New York, Mrs. J. T. Shepherd of Oakland, Mrs. J. W. Palmer of New York, W. H. Ford, George E. Ford of Alameda, and Charles W. Ford of Cananea, Mexico. His wife died several years ago. Decedent was a native of Glasgow, Scotland, and came to America when quite a youth. He was the inventor of a gas regulator which is in use in almost every city of the world. Twelve or fifteen years ago he retired from active business. His death was due to the infirmities incident to old age.
The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from Henderson's undertaking parlor. Telegraph avenue and twenty-third street, Rev. S. E. Crowe of Alameda will officiate. Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery.
