m 1956-1979 to Robert Dale Anderson (1935-2007); children: Kathryn Anne, Roxie Lorraine, Johnny Dale, Robin Michelle, Glenda Ruth, Alicia Jean & Jennifer Elsie
Father: John Lorraine McFall (1914-1988)
Rosemary (McFall Anderson) Pilsl, 83, of Raytown, passed away Saturday, September 1, embraced closely by her family. Rosemary was born June 5, 1935 in Kansas City, KS & grew up in Northeast Kansas City, MO, graduating from Northeast High School.
She worked for the phone company & Pepsi Cola before marrying & raising a large family in Independence. Over the years, she developed her God-given & self-taught talent of singing, playing guitar, keyboard, bass foot & rhythm master. She worked in various clubs throughout the Kansas City area, on her own & in bands; many times, at the then-famous General’s Inn in Independence, owned by the late Bill “The General” Rosser – “Pop” to those who knew & loved him best.
It was there, in the early 1970’s, that Rosemary found what would become a true life-long love & passion – an annual Christmas Party, on Christmas Day, no less – for Children & Adults with Developmental Disabilities – all funded by donations made within the General’s Inn. Others joined in over the years - the Independence Optimists’ Club & Community Choice, Inc., with local American Legions offering space.
This has been ours’ & many families’ Christmas Day – every year. And Rosemary aka “Mrs. Santa” was right there, front & center, singing & dancing – she was so proud to tell any one she met about it & the joy it brought. She invited everyone – come, see, eat, sing, dance – “if I get you once, I’ll get you hooked!” And she was right! With hers & countless others’ work, dedication & inspiration, the Party & group of volunteers continued to grow. The many, many volunteers now dress up as Elves, Santa’s Helpers, Clowns, Hillbillies… you name it! Our “Mrs. Claus” may be gone, but the Party – and this legacy - will certainly go on!
Rosemary also used her time singing & playing music in nursing homes periodically. This brought her great joy & satisfaction – being able to reach out & touch those who at times only responded to music – their music. And she played it all – new & old, sometimes with her own unique spin! She always said, “I’m not a good singer but I am an entertainer” – and boy was she!
Somehow, no matter where she was, near or far – in town or out, Rosemary would “run into” someone she knew. Of course, when no one is a stranger, maybe that isn’t such a great feat. Rosemary most especially loved & enjoyed spending time with family, friends & extended family – in fact, everyone became family to Rosemary & Paul. They both cherished family, holding all very near & dear to their hearts, holding special & irreplaceable relationships with children & grandchildren alike.
Rosemary is preceded in death by her husband, Paul, infant brother Kenneth Hubbard, sister Janice Barber, son, Johnny Anderson, daughter, Glenda Anderson, granddaughter, Wendy Anderson & grandson, Matthew Bettinger. She is survived by 5 daughters, Kathie Bettinger of Bates City, Roxie (David) Anderson of Tempe, AZ, Robin Johnson of Belton, Jeanne Anderson of Kansas City & Jennifer Anderson of Independence, 13 grandchildren, Robert, Kerrie, Michael, Chase, Jeremy, Amanda, Josh, Jaimie, Veronica, Erin, Tiffany, Jason & Mariah & 24 great-grandchildren.
